Acadian Fish Company began in 1963 in Los Angeles, California, founded by Harvey and Lucille Reynolds. Harvey, a WWII veteran, got his start in seafood working for Louisiana Fish Company before acquiring it and renaming it Acadian in tribute to the region supplying most of their product.
After Harvey’s passing in 1981, sons Jim and John Reynolds took over. They introduced farm-raised Catfish from Mississippi, which grew to over 100,000 pounds sold weekly, prompting a move to a larger facility in downtown Los Angeles.
In 1990, David Bell joined the company, later purchasing a stake in 2004. Acadian relocated to Vernon, CA in 2013. After Jim and John retired, David and long-time friend Kent Hayden acquired the company in 2017. Kent brought over 40 years of food industry experience to the team.
Today, Acadian Fish Company imports seafood directly from around the globe, including Shrimp, Swai, Tilapia, Octopus, Rock Cod, Crab, Oysters, and Scallops. Serving over 2,000 customers across food service, retail, and wholesale, Acadian now distributes over 350,000 pounds of seafood per week, continuing a proud legacy built on quality, service, and trust.
